Not TV episode animations, mind you; just animated shorts(via Slashfilm). See, Universal made a deal with Adult Swim about making an animated short related to the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie (that’s based on the graphic novel). Along with creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, together they came up with a 4-minute animated short that will air on the 12th in the US and Canada, just before the movie’s debut on the 13th. Here’s how it went down according to producer Jason DeMarco:
“We were approached by Universal to do something cool around the release of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Being huge fans of the comic, and very excited about the film, we asked if we could produce an animated short in the style of the comic. The filmmakers and Bryan Lee O’Malley were into the idea, so we actually made it! Edgar Wright was kind enough to secure some of the talent from the film for us, so we have Michael Cera as Scott, Allison Pill as Kim, Mae Whitman as Lisa and Jason Schwartzman as Simon Lee doing voices in the short.”
Animation’s done by Titmouse, Inc., who also did shows like Metalocalypse. If you’re still not hyped about the Scott Pilgrim comic book, the videogame (on August 10th on PSN US stores) and the movie (which is coming much later here, unfortunately), hopefully this animated short will change your mind.
