Episodes From Liberty City Coming to PC and PS3 in March

Posted in General

EFLCPCRockstar Games just announced that both expansion packs for Grand Theft Auto IV will finally be arriving on the PC and PS3 platform. GTA IV: The Lost and Damned (TLAD) and The Ballad of Gay Tony (TBOGT), which were individually available as DLC expansions, and as a standalone retail box set called Episodes From Liberty City (EFLC) have been exclusive to the Xbox 360 for the past year even though the original GTA IV was released on all three platforms.

With this announcement, it looks like the Episodes From Liberty City will make its way to the PS3 and PC via DLC on the Playstation Network and Games for Windows LIVE. At this time, we’ve not heard from Rockstar or Take-Two on whether there will be a standalone copy of EFLC like the X360 which does not require GTA IV to play, or will it only come in the form of DLCs. Still, the PC version will retain its 32-player multi-player limit and video editor.

Here’s the full announcement from Rockstar Games:

We are happy to announce the much anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows® – LIVE on March 30, 2010. For the first time, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows – LIVE players will have the opportunity to experience the last two thrilling chapters of the Grand Theft Auto IV saga.

The two action packed episodes will also be available for download on the PlayStation Network and Games for Windows® LIVE on March 30, 2010. Each episode boasts the same detailed and immersive Liberty City we all know and love. Games for Windows – LIVE players can enjoy 32-player multiplayer matches and an advanced video editor, and all fans will have the chance to once again listen to the dulcet tones of Liberty City Radio.

The Lost and Damned is a dark trip through Liberty City’s seedy underbelly as outlaw biker, Johnny Klebitz, fights to keep his gang together as a rift in the gang’s leadership threatens to tear the brotherhood apart. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, players explore Liberty City’s high-end nightlife as Luis Lopez, struggling to balance the temptations of money and vice against loyalties to family and friends. Both episodes feature a slew of new vehicles and weapons, and each episode adds new activities including cage fighting, gang wars and BASE jumping.

    • Jayson says:

Well you gotta hand it to Micro$oft for paying Rockstar US$50 million to ensure that the DLC is only exclusive to them back then. Looks like the promise had to be broken some day, the other being Bethesda Studios (Fallout 3 DLC).

      • papapishu says:

err….exclusives with third-party developers are usually timed until a certain date.
