Final Super SF IV Character “Slips” Out

Posted in General

IGN.com just revealed the last Super Street Fighter IV character; a Middle-Eastern grappler who goes by the name of Hakan. He loves his daughters and loves to put oil all over his body; meaning his story in the game is played for laughs. Judging from the versus footage below, he’s a grappler who can buff himself up with oil. Possibly to power up either his command grab or extend the range of his slide. His first Ultra’s an anti-air (not sure if it’s a full-on counter though), while his Second Ultra’s a powered-up command grab.

I for one am glad that he’s not a big bulky guy in a turban with a weird-ass twirly mustache. You can’t fault Capcom for being unoriginal with this design. He’s the aftermath of Mike Haggar being messed up by SNK character designers. Being a fan of grapplers, I can’t wait to use this guy, along with T.Hawk.

Not to be racist here, but I kinda expected him to look like a turban wearing terrorist.

    Oh well.

Actually, after trolling around the Shoryuken forums, his oil buff makes his command grabs have longer range (longer than zangief’s jab SPD), his backdash and forward dash faster, and make his normals chain easier. He sounds promising, though an unorthodox character to use.

It’s too soon to tell, though, until it comes out end of April and until every tourney-level player has had a hand with the game.

I don’t understand why Capcom feels compelled to make every other character in this game a joke character. I might have found Hakan’s specials funny when I was 6, but it just looks like poorly-made slapstick now.

Wait a minute, aren’t all the slots on the character select screen already completed??
