Which is a pity really, because while it is undoubtedly popular, the game is really (at its heart) nothing more than a shinier version of several MMOs before it. And as game journalists, one would hope that the team could draw attention to MMOs that are critically better, as opposed to falling victim to popularism. @hiro

Well, the answer should be quite obvious if you think about it: the writing team has predominantly WOW players. Which is a pity really, because while it is undoubtedly popular, the game is really (at its heart) nothing more than a shinier version of several MMOs before it. And as game journalists, one would hope that the team could draw attention to MMOs that are critically better, as opposed to falling victim to popularism.
