Friday Fives – Street Fighter IV Pros

Posted in Friday Fives

Who are the greatest Street Fighter IV players on the planet? Find out here, complete with video footage. (Hint: One of them is in Singapore today!)

5. Justin Wong

J. Wong gets a lot of hate but you can’t deny his skills. His final against Daigo at Evo2k9 was epic. Here he is taking on Korean national champ Poongko at the Gamestop 2009 World Championships.

4. Shiro

Shiro is probably the best Abel player in the world. He’s probably also the reason Justin surprise picked Abel against Daigo’s Ryu in the first round of the Evo2k9 finals before switching to Boxer. Here’s what Justin should have done:

3. Mago

YouTube seems to hate Mago for being a fireball spammer and for playing Sagat, but you can’t fault his execution and zoning abilities. Winner of the first Godsgarden tournament in Japan and probably the best Sagat in the world. Interestingly, he seems to have switched to Fei Long for Super Street Fighter IV.

2. Momochi

The reigning Capcom SF4 Nationals 2010 Champion, Momochi, will be in attendance at TGX this weekend. If you’re in the mood to challenge him, this is what you’ll be up against (be afraid, be very afraid):

1. Daigo Umehara

daigo

Well who else was going to be at number 1?  The world’s most famous SF4 pro, and arguably one of the best pro-gamers of all time, Daigo really is in a class of his own. Sure he’s been beaten, but in a fight against anyone, you’ve got to favor ‘The Beast’.

I’m sure you’ve seen his Ryu in action, but he’s not just a one character man. Check out his Guile in action against another old time pro, Alex Valle’s Ryu:

  1. [...] They may not ALL be at EVO right now, but website GameAxis has some neat profiles of five of the top Street Fighter IV players in the world. Of course Justin and Daigo are on that list, and you should definitely check out the rest! [...]
