Sure, we may not celebrate Halloween like the Americans do, but this is Asia, we don’t need an excuse to inappropriately dress up like our favorite characters! Hey we put a lot of time and effort into this kind of stuff.
And yet, for every awesome Big Daddy, Samus Aran or lesbian Links costume, you just know some guy out there is thinking about how liberal his interpretation of ‘Naked Snake’ can be.
Here are some ill advised costume choices this year. Wear this and prepare yourself for a world of ridicule.
5. Sim from The Sims
Yes, it may seem like a great (and cost saving) idea to go as a Sim, and be able to just wear your own clothes, while holding up a sign with a cute little pictograph on it whenever you need to talk to someone. But, if you’re planning on keeping things authentic, you’ll soon realize that no-one knows what the hell you’re trying to say. “Heart? Fried egg? Alien baby?”
4. Any Pokémon from The Pokémon series
Are Pokémon still cool? Your choices for this costume range from big yellow mouse, to..well that’s about it, because if you go as anyone other than Pikachu, chances are no-one will recognize who you’re supposed to be and you’ll be arrested for just being a creepy guy hanging out near kids in a furry costume. Again.
And if you go as Pikachu, you run the risk of being associated with this guy:
3. Bomberman from Bomberman Act Zero
Hey Bomberman! Everyone recognizes Bomberman! Finally, a legitimate costume. Just make sure you go as classic Bomberman, the one with the big eyebrows and no mouth, and not Nu-Bomberman from Act Zero. Otherwise, everyone will think you’re Iron Man, with a really big hand for some reason.
2. Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII
I can’t stress this enough. No matter how cool you are every other day, you are not cool enough to be Sephiroth on Halloween. Long white hair, black leather and (if you like) one angel wing is a lot harder to pull off than you think. You’ll either end up looking like someone’s grandma in a BDSM dungeon, or this person:
