GAX@Asia Game Show 09 in Hong Kong

The Asia Game Show x Online Game Show 2009 opens today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show lasts from now up till the 27th December, but some game fans have been queuing up since 22nd December. When approached, it seems that they weren’t queuing just to enter the show, but for mmo freebies and code promos.

The event was officiated at 9am by guests and officials of the show, including Mr. Yasuda Tetsuhiko, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Asia. As most people would know, the Asia Game Show in Hong Kong is more or less a Sony affair, with them having the biggest presence, especially with the recent launch of Final Fantasy XIII in Japan.

I’m not sure if PS3 users here are able to access this, but during his speech, Yoshinori Kitase announced that there will be special FF themes, personal spaces, costumes, figures and furniture available on Playstation Home. There will also be a special Christmas Final Fantasy event in PS Home at midnight tonight.

In terms of game launches, there’s nothing really new that we don’t already know about that I can see on the show floor, but for the HK crowd, the major attractions besides FFXIII are newer playable demos of God of War III, and some four-player Lost Planet 2 action.
