Yeah, it’s something you don’t see everyday: take a revered fighting game franchise, take a few of its popular characters, and turn it into a top-down 2D shoot-em-up. Four characters have currently been introduced in this odd blend: Kyo Kusanagi (shoots fire), Athena Asamiya (shoots Psycho Powers), Iori Yagami (shoots purple flames), and Kula Diamond (shoots ice). Location tests show that the game itself seems promising, so we might be seeing this game popping by your nearby arcade joint.
Just yesterday on SNK’s website, they just announced two new characters joining in the schmup fray: Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard. The former throws fans while the latter throws power geysers. Check out more pics here. I just hope that the eventual console versions of this game isn’t terribly overpriced: lord knows I was almost willing to fork out S$100 for Thunderforce VI.
