If you were looking for bullet-time and vengeance while enjoying the climes of South America, you will have to wait a bit longer. Max Payne 3, which promised all that and more has been delayed and will not only be released on consoles come 15th May 2012 in the US. The PC version of the game will hit shelves even later, on 29th May 2012.
In addition to the cinematic trailer that had already made public, there is now a new gameplay trailer as well discussing the finer points of Max Payne 3. The story arc is not touched upon as much, but we do get to see the dynamics of motion and gun fights in the clip. What we would really like to ask Rockstar however, is what they want to accomplish by rubbing in the fact that we cannot get our hands on a copy for a good while?
The delay also puts the game developers, publishers and distributors Take Two in an awkward situation. Max Payne 3 was supposed to be a part of their roster of games for 2012. After the delay however, it will be counted as part of their 2013 fiscal year. Which means that all predictions for profits and earnings they had get thrown out of the window.
Essentially, the delay is due to the fact that Mass Effect 3 will also be available to gamers during the original release window of Max Payne 3. Rather than go head to head with the RPG behemoth with similar third person shooting gameplay, the creators have decided to delay the release a while to maximize sales.
