Microsoft’s New Controller Has Shiny D-Pad

Wish to replace your Xbox 360 controller? Wait until November, because that’s when Microsoft will be releasing a new official 360 controller. Apart from the monochrome face buttons and a much more curved bunch of trigger buttons, the d-pad has been significantly improved. How so, you may ask? You can now twist it to either make it flat or raise it up so that you can do quarter-circle motions with less blisters.

Or if you would rather see a demo from the original Xbox “sifu” Major Nelson, just check below:

The controller will be bundled with the Play & Charge kit and will be retailing for US$64.99 on November the 9th in the US (hello, parallel importing!). My beef with the controller is the monochrome buttons; why change a surefire way for console newbies to recognize buttons on a 360 controller? Apart from that, it’s good that Microsoft did something about the one big quirk of the Xbox 360 controller.

  1. Rob Clynes says:

Xbox 360 is better than the ps3. Just look at the recent psn hack. I think this has crippled sony.

  2. Different kind of info. I was checking out something sorta like this a bit earlier. Nice to see it covered. Now that I think about it, I need to make my blog theme more like this.
