For those bitching about the state of SNK Playmore even with the existence of the pretty-good King of Fighters XIII, SNK Playmore is planning on releasing a bunch of Neo Geo classics via NeoGeo Station on the PlayStation Network (via Andriasang.com). UPDATE: The service will be available for Asian PSN users this December 22nd.
Any game retrofitted for the NeoGeo Station will be available for both the PS3 and PSP. However, there will be separate versions of Neo Geo ports, so you’ll have to pay for both a PS3 version and PSP version of an Art of Fighting port if you want to have them both on both consoles.
The PS3 versions will cost a bit more, but they will have full online play and friends list support. The PSP version will have ad-hoc multi-player modes. Both the PS3 and PSP versions will have an option to save button layouts, volume settings, and even skip startup menu/attract mode screens. These games will also have a BGM test option and a replay mode. You know, to show off your Magician Lord speedrun or something.
Here’s the initial line-up for SNK Playmore’s service, with each game costing you 900 yen $13.49 for the PS3 version and 700 yen $10.49 for the PSP version:
- Fatal Fury
- Metal Slug
- KOF ‘94
- Samurai Shodown
- Super Sidekicks
- Art of Fighting
- ASO II Last Guardian
- League Bowling
- Baseball Starts Professional
- Magician Lord
UPDATE: Here’s a demo of the service.
