Looking for the next mobile game to grace your phones and tablets? Perhaps Playpark could convince you with Heart Castle, a 3D action role-playing game based on Alice in Wonderland. While the English version officially launches in Singapore and Malaysia next month, an open beta for Android users will be publicly available on Tuesday, 24 March.
Judging by the very brief gameplay in the teaser trailer, it seems to be a party-based adventure with the usual questing and PvP involved, although nothing about the story (if any) was hinted at. There will be microtransactions of course, with their awareness campaign on Facebook promising free “Rubies” at launch, and you can be certain there will be plenty of hero collecting too.
To participate, players simply have to click on the “Join Beta” tab on the official Facebook page to sign up and install the client. There will not be any data wipes but players do have to reinstall on launch day. An exclusive Early Bird Package will be given to all beta participants for the trouble, so might as well hop on early if the game has piqued your interest.
Heart Castle isn’t Android-exclusive, however. iOS users get to join on launch day and will all receive welcome packages to offset their missed beta opportunity.
Other than American McGee’s morbid adaptations, we’ve never had a full Alice in Wonderland game that isn’t targeted at young children. Let’s see if this manages to turn that around, even on a small-scale basis.
