Microsoft Singapore are running a promotion for their Xbox One packages from now until 30 June 2015. The Xbox One with Kinect will include a second controller for free, while the standalone unit is getting a flat-out discount.

“Gaming is a social experience. With two wireless controllers, gamers can now enjoy the interactive gaming experience of the Xbox One with Kinect with a buddy,” says Hanson Yap, marketing manager of Xbox at Microsoft Singapore, in a press release.

Contents of the two packages are as follows:

Xbox One with Kinect (SG$739)

  • 500GB Xbox One console
  • Xbox One Kinect sensor
  • Two wireless controllers
  • Chat headset
  • HDMI cable
  • Power supply cable
  • $20 off 12-Month Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription

The Xbox One wireless controller has an ERP of SG$74.90.

Xbox One (SG$569)

  • 500GB Xbox One console
  • One wireless controller
  • Chat headset
  • HDMI cable
  • Power supply cable
  • $20 off 12-Month Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription

This bundle is normally priced at $639, hence $70 savings.

Considering how essential Xbox LIVE Gold is to the whole experience – online multiplayer, free games, special offers, and more – a discount on that twelve-month subscription is a neat bonus.

Now that the transition between console generations has more or less settled down, a number of worthwhile games have begun cropping up.

Over at the shooting gallery we’ve got Battlefield Hardline and Evolve on duty until Halo 5: Guardians (Oct 2015) and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (TBA) comes around. RPG fans have Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (May 2015) to sink dozens of hours into. Action-adventure junkies can turn to Batman: Arkham Knight (June 2015) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (late 2015). We can’t possibly list everything but it wouldn’t be right not to mention Ori and the Blind Forest, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, and Mortal Kombat X either.

So yes, picking up a current-gen console is now starting to make sense.
