E3 2016: Bethesda has announced a remastered version of Skyrim for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and of course, PC. Nearly five years after it first came out, the classic RPG continues to have a very impressive fan base that keeps the game pretty through HD mods on the PC platform.

From the footage above (skip to 3:18min), Skyrim Special Edition has been improved dramatically for the new generation – you can hear all about the relevant technical details in the video. Additionally, the console versions will also now support PC mods. The game will be out on 28th October.

UPDATE: Bethesda has also confirmed that if you already own the vanilla Skyrim and all its add-ons or the Legendary Edition on Steam, you’ll get a free upgrade to Skyrim Special Edition on launch date
