Other San Diego Comicon News That Would Entice You

Posted in General

San Diego Comicon 2011 wasn’t all about videogames; it was also about comic book, movie, and pop culture-related news that shoehorn well into the gaming demographic. Here are the highlights:

- Avengers Finally Assembled

The Avengers movie is indeed a reality, and will be written and directed by Joss “Almighty” Whedon. Who’s in it, you may ask? Why, it’s:

• Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man

• Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

• Chris Hemworth as Thor

• Chris Evans as Captain America

• Sam Jackson as Nick Fury

• Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

• Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk

• Clark Gregg as Agent Coulsen

What? No Edward Norton? Well, there were news regarding him being a pain to work with while the Incredible Hulk movie was in production, so that probably was the reason Hulk is now played by that guy from Zodiac and 13 Going On 30. Oh, and where’s Nathan Fillion going to fit in all of this?

- Tron: Legacy Still Looking Good

You know those last bits at the end of the trailer right after the title where they tease us with something balls-out cool? Tron: Legacy’s latest trailer has one of those. Lord, I really need to re-watch Tron. It’s been a while.

- Church Protestors Out-Protested By Comic Con Attendees

A group known as the Westboro Baptist Church came to Comic Con to protest the heck out of it. Attendees of the Comic Con had other ideas, all of them humorous.

- The Walking Dead

Robert Kirkman’s award-winning zombie apocalypse series is getting a TV adaptation, and it’s really looking great. It’s scheduled to be on air in the US this October. If you’re wondering why the effects look pretty damn good (even with the horrible bootleg quality of the trailer above), that’s because it’s done by Gregory Nicotero who also did the effects for the 2000 TV adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
