First, there was the Onza. Now, there is the Sabertooth which is the name given by Razer to their brand new Xbox 360 controller. Made from durable materials, the controller is touted to be up to scratch with tournament grade wear and tear. You can expect the buttons, triggers and analog sticks to last for a much longer duration than regular offerings.
But what makes the Sabertooth special is the provision of six additional remappable buttons. Two are located on each shoulder of the controller and two removable rocking switches can be found at the bottom of the device. These allow gamers to re-bind any choice of the buttons on the controller for easier access. The older Onza came with just two multi-function buttons on the shoulder.
Customization of the features can be achieved with the help of a built-in OLED screen. The display visualizes all of the modified preferences such as multi-function buttons, adjust the analog stick’s sensitivity and save profiles allowing you to keep easy track of what settings you are using. The Sabertooth also comes with a screw-on detachable cable and a carry bag allowing for easy transportation of the controller.
Overall, the design of the Razer Sabertooth is intended to increase actuation speed, reduce fatigue and encourage natural hand posturing for a more precise and comfortable gaming experience.
As part of giving back to the community, Razer has also introduced the Step-up program with the launch of the Sabertooth. Owners of the older Onza will be entitled to a discount code if the choose to purchase the Sabertooth, which will retail for US$79.90.
