Shots from Max Payne 3

Posted in General

The original Max Payne was a third person shooter classic. With a tight storyline, a gritty film noir setting and graphic novel presentation it instantly developed a rabid, cult following. It also helped that the title also popularized the immensely fun bullet-time mode of gameplay which slowed down the seconds and let you snipe off multiple enemies at once.

Integral to the whole feel of the game was the setting, New York City which seemed like the only place Max Payne’s story could unfold. The freezing cold and bleak architecture mirrored the dark events of the game.

However for the third installment it seems like Mr. Payne has decided to move to a warmer climate. Max Payne 3 will be set in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. At the very least, it seems that the usual cast of NY tweakers and gangsters will be replaced with favela hooligans.

While the atmosphere may have gotten sunnier, it seems like Max Payne himself has gotten more grizzled and cynical with the passing years. Following are a few new screenshots released by Rockstar for you to take a peek at and form your own conclusions. Without any concrete release date, only your imagination can help you figure out if the relocation will pay off or not.

Welcome to the favellas of Sao Paulo Mr. Paye, we hope you have a pleasant stay.

From the looks of it, Max Payne has onbiously not lost his penchant for tumbling and shooting like an actor is a cheesy B-grade action flick.
