So guess what showed up on my e-mail today? No, not a Message 419; it’s the latest update on Project Needlemouse. Apparently to no one’s surprise, it’s a new Sonic The Hedgehog game that’s called Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. In a nutshell, it’s basically Sonic returning to his 2D roots starring just the hedgehog.
The game will pick up after Sonic & Knuckles, but will focus on a new story arc. In addition to his patented spin dash, power sneakers, and even his array of shields, he’ll also have a homing attack like in the 3D Sonic games. The game will be heading to PSN, XBLA, and WiiWare this summer.
Meanwhile, if you want to get your jollies off watching Sonic and Mario reuniting with comedic results, just check out this CollegeHumor video, complete with a guest star “crashing” the party.
