Sony Presents “The Tester”; Witness The First Trailer

Posted in Industry News

Sony’s new reality show, The Tester, is really going to be aired in public. The premise is this: a bunch of contestants are competing against each other in a test of wits, endurance, and l33t gaming skills for a position at Sony in the quality assurance department. I am dead serious. Anyone who knows an inkling about the videogame industry can tell you that QA is the lowest job position in the work hierarchy, just slightly above janitor and fluffer in the adult entertainment industry.

The show will run on February 18th and can be downloaded through the Playstation Network (for US accounts; not sure about Hong Kong, Europe, and Japan though). Based on what I can gather from the trailer above, we can expect people mixing alcohol into their fruit-flavored cereal, people debasing themselves with non-videogame related activities for our amusement, see David Jaffe be a judge and hopefully not go into an expletive-filled rant, and see the PlayStation Home producer scold a 23-year old woman until she breaks down into tears. Thanks for keeping it classy, Sony.
