Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II – Strong With This One?

There’s no point in changing up what made the first Force Unleashed authentic: the score. Haden Blackman will be in charge of the writing once again. Score-wise, Mark Griskey will resume music duties along with in-house composers Jesse Harlin and Wiilbert Roget. Just recently, Ian mentioned that the team recorded a 50-piece orchestra at Skywalker Sound over a period of a week or so. “There will be different themes/scores for each character, world, and unique tracks for every cinematic and such,” said Ian Pang.

Fights will be plentiful be it with small scale skirmishes against Storm Troopers or fighting big galaxy badasses. On one mission, Starkiller’s given a task to release General Kota from a gladiatorial arena owned by Baron Tarko. Never mind that; Starkiller gets to fight the rancor’s bigger cousin: the gorog. Not only does it vomit gas from its mouth, it also flings random Storm Troopers at you. The aforementioned Cato Neimoidia will have a bit of platforming action amidst its eye-catching orange-palette vista.

All of this intensity is captured using an improved version of the Ronin game engine (used in the first game) along with the Zeno toolset; both made thanks to the team’s effort and their collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic. Core technologies like Havok Physics, Pixelux’s Molecular Matter, and Natural Motion’s Euphoria are part and parcel in the team’s re-imagining of the Star War’s unleashed side.

So far, it seems likely that LucasArts are planning to do right with the sequel. Watch this space when we get to test out more of the game at Singapore’s LucasArts studios in the near future; definitely before its release on October 26th.
