StarCraft II Singapore Launch

Posted in Events

Planning on heading down to Funan DigitalLife Mall to pick up your copy of StarCraft II? Here’s what the queue looked like around 11AM this morning:

It starts inside Funan

It starts inside Funan...

It starts here...

and continues outside...

and goes around the corner...

and goes around the corner...

...and keeps going

...and keeps going

From what I heard, the first people in line have been queuing since 11AM...yesterday. At one point the queue had reached Peninsula Plaza and was snaking around on itself.

Brian Kindregan, Lead Writer, StarCraft II

Mr. Brian Kindregan, Lead Writer, StarCraft II

At around 12PM, Brian Kindregan, Lead Writer on StarCraft II took the stage to talk a bit about the game and how the Blizzard production team works (like a bank robbery gang if you’re interested).

Kindregan was followed on stage by a pretty cool Percussionist Band, whose name I didn’t catch (sorry) – Boca Singa Pura I think?

Roland Ong, CEO of IAHGames

Mr. Roland Ong, CEO of IAHGames then took the stage to greet the crowd.

Mr. Oh Jin Ho, Managing Director, SEA Blizzard Entertainment

Followed by Mr. Oh Jin Ho, Managing Director of SEA Blizzard Entertainment who thanked the crowd for their years of support.

And with that, the countdown to StarCraft II was underway:

And here are some of the first people in line picking up their copy of the game:

From what I hear, the queue still continues outside the building, but at least is now moving at a reasonable rate.

  19. [...] Beyond that, there are only questions about the idea. I’m guessing that humanities and engineering “courses” would be run very differently, as the former is more discussion, and the latter more trying to figure out stuff. There’s also the question of elitism- an oft-ignored purpose of universities is to select sufficiently smart people to form a community. Would discussions function well if someone is dragging the group down (and worse, refusing to shut up?) There’s also the question of whether anyone would sign up in the first place- I’m not sure if working professionals would want to find time to learn (though they’d probably find time to play Starcraft 2).
