Just started playing on our review copy and I must say, the first three missions are quite the ride so far. The new intermission briefing rooms have quite an interactive feel and you get some back story to boot. Be sure to click on everything that’s clickable because you’ll also get achievements.

Also the first three missions play pretty simple and get you into the game mechanics. At the end of every mission, you will get achievements and you’ll need to play on Hard to get all achievements. They seem pretty easy to do so far, but we’ll see how I go as I get deeper into the game. There’s also a mission selector for the campaign, so you don’t have to replay the whole campaign for said achievements.

You collect Protoss/Zerg artifacts for upgrades.

27-Jul, 17:39 – Just got access to the Cantina, I spot a WoW Easter egg! Also there seems to be different type of missions, and achievements for these can only be earned if you complete them all. Also said achievements are getting harder to do, but still doable if you ask me. Am tempted to go play multiplayer as Protoss, but am holding out to finish the campaign first.

27-Jul, 19:12 - In between the other work stuff (thanks to the iPhone 4 launch), I managed to get in some more campaign games. Just did the lava map and it’s heck load of fun. It’s certainly different from your usual RTS build defend, escort map. Basically, every 3~5 minutes, lava will come out and wipe out your forces if they are on low ground. So, you gotta move your units up to high ground. You have to harvest 8000 minerals, and the starting minerals aren’t enough. So you have to start harvesting all over the place. Also, did I mention the Zerg are attacking?

27 Jul, 20:33 – Oh hai, it’s me again. Just finished a pretty challenging mission that took awhile to beat but I certainly had fun. Again no spoilers, but this is one mission where you have to collect gas from the Protoss. Maybe ‘cos they be windbags mon. Anyway, here’s an easter egg for you WoW fans.

27 Jul, 21:55 – Currently loving the upgrade system. Makes your unit much more powerful and gives it a slightly different twist from Multi-player. I’d love to see how this will translate in the next two chapters of the game for the Single Player campaign.

27 Jul, 22:28 – Bnet seems to be down. Well, not getting any achievements is fine by me, but it looks like it’s down for most according to the forums. Also it seems some users are also having connection issues. What was the whole point of local servers again? *scratches head*

27 Jul, 23:48 – Finally hit a cinematic that’s more than mega awesome. Let’s just say it was worth the wait for this scene. Alright, one last mission, then I’m off to bed. While I love to play this the whole night, have to do an interview tomorrow. Laters!
