Starcraft II Will Cost You S$109 Here

Rage!!!

You think paying 1200 for an Xbox Live game is expensive? Try this piece of news at pr-inside.com: Blizzard Entertainment announced recently that Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will not cost you S$84/US$60 (plus tax). Instead, it’ll cost Singaporeans and Malaysians S$109/MYR248. Keep in mind that this is the standard version of the game, not the Limited Collector’s edition with the spiffy box and cool-as-heck dog tag. Also keep in mind that IAHGames are the ones bringing in the game locally.

I’ve browsed through the IAHGames website. So far, no official press release from them concerning this. We’ve already hit an e-mail to them to clarify this. For all we know, this could be some mis-communication. PC games have cost around the S$50-60 mark here; do you really think PC gamers here are going to stand having a game as renown as this costing twice the price?

I have a question, If my friend buys the game for me digitally from the states and give me the activation code, isn’t that cheaper than buying from malaysia or singapore. Converting US60 to RM is about RM192.

Other than that, are there different version for our region and the US?

    hmmm

  10. Hi

    …..

What they don’t have is official word from IAHGames, the distributors, themselves. For now, this is just speculation until the deal is sealed.

    /clap

Well, they could do so much better as a magazine and an online blog.

    News, has to be, new.

@Unforsaken If you are not up to standard, should anyone cut you slack? If you were a superior, would you cut someone slack for being sub-par?

@Blinkon If their real mag was full of content, I’ll give them credit but that is not the case. 1/2 gaming 1/2 lifestyle.

  13. papapishu says:

109? i can import starcraft 2 from the US and it’ll be way cheaper than that. what a ripoff!

  14. Undies says:

I hate to burst your bubble but your blog post is uber dated.

GAX forums are more up to date imo

    • Mr Toffee says:

Yeah, we know the news has been out since last week or earlier even. I was on leave for assignment on that week, hence the late news on the site. We also know that our forum members scour the net pretty fast. I am only one person, after all.

What they don’t have is official word from IAHGames, the distributors, themselves. For now, this is just speculation until the deal is sealed.

    • the_davis says:

you didn’t follow the site. He was away on assignment

      • undies says:

Pretty weak excuse, updating the blog can be done anywhere in the world.

Can’t Jimmy or Kichigai update? They are part of the GAX editorial team, no?

        Print media is DEAD!

        • Blinkon says:

gameaxis has both the magazine & online to worry about. maybe they
are busy with the mag? that’s why no update lor…

        • Unforsaken says:

Why are you so critical? Cut them some slack

        • My friend, if you think you can do a better job than Mr Toffee or j.wartooth, then please go and type out your own news post.

News writing (for both print or online) isn’t as easy as it looks.

          • undies says:

            Never said it was.

But, GAX and HWZ are top-tier media in Singapore. Better is expected of them.

          • the_davis says:

There’s your answer, we’re in Singapore

it is usually better for haters to complain and bicker and say
things easily rather than doing it themselves and see what it’s
really like in the vg field.
