Valve has announced that it will be bringing its Steam platform to the Mac this April, making Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life and Counterstrike all available via digital download.
Gabe Newell, President of Valve said, “As we transition from entertainment as a product to entertainment as a service, customers and developers need open, high-quality Internet clients. The Mac is a great platform for entertainment services.”
Steamworks for Mac will allow customers who have purchased a game to play it on either Windows or Mac platforms, and a new service called Steam Cloud will even allow gamers to start a game on PC and then continue it later on a Mac, or vice versa.
Portal 2 will be the first game to be simultaneously released on both Mac and PC Steam platforms.
