The Round1.sg folks, being huge fighting game fans who live in Singapore if you somehow can’t tell from the website url, are definitely stoked and excited from Super Street Fighter IV. So we took the obvious route and set up three questions for a few of the fighters of the site.

Name: Tien Lang
Nickname: Yagami
SF IV Main: El Fuerte
1) What was your first Street Fighter game and when did you start playing it?
I started with Street Fighter 2 back when I was 8 years old. However, I only started to get serious when more ‘recent’ titles came out like Capcom vs. SNK and Street Fighter 3. Damn, even that was 10 years ago…
2) Which of the new characters (Guy, Cody, Adon, Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, Hakan, Juri, T.Hawk, Dee Jay) will you try out first, and why?
MAKOTO! GUY! These two characters scream pure rushdown, which is definitely my style. Makoto was my main in SF3: Third Strike so I’m excited to see how she fares this time around, being almost top-tier in the older game. Guy, because I play El Fuerte in vanilla SF4 and both of them have special moves that come out of running. I might also give Ibuki a try for her insane wake-up pressure, but it seems like she’s going to be super popular due to her character design, so that turns me off a little.
3) What kind of changes do you wish for your main in Street Fighter IV to have in Super SF IV? Why?
El Fuerte looks to be getting some buffs in the damage and health departments, areas where he was sorely lacking in vanilla SF IV. You could make twice, maybe three times as many correct guesses as your opponent in a match and still lose. While this problem is inherent in his character design, the small tweaks evident to his health and damage output, along with the nerfs to the top tier (Ryu, Sagat, Akuma) should make him a more balanced character. Oh, and his new ultra fixes many, many of his bad matchups.

Name: Wilson Chia
Nickname: Tetra
SF IV Main: C.Viper
1) What was your first Street Fighter game and when did you start playing it?
SF IV. Last year on February 2009, when the game was released on console.
2) Which of the new characters will you try out first, and why?
I tried Ibuki at the Capcom National tournament in Tokyo, Japan. Ibuki can make use of what I learned from Viper. But I don’t really want to get back into another hard learning curve character. Makoto would be another choice for me because of how she attacks and dashes. I really like characters who have cool dashes :)
3) What kind of changes do you wish for your main in Street Fighter IV to have in Super SF IV? Why?
A. Viper should have 1000 health instead of 900 health. She dies too easily to random stuff :(
B. Make heavy Thunder Knuckle have full invincibility until the active frames. Because of that 1 frame lacking in the move. Viper players get thrown randomly. It’s only 70 damage compared to a Tiger Uppercut which is 180(?).
C. Ultra 2 isn’t good at all in my opinion. She should be given a more interesting ultra… All the Japanese players I met said they rather use back ultra 1. Viper is a character who has a lot more crazy stuff. Ultra 2 doesn’t seem to represent that.
D. A less buggy-looking crouch medium kick. It doesn’t reach as far as it looks. It’s slower than Ken’s crouch medium kick and has lesser range.

Name: Jennifer Tan
Nickname: Kennifer
SF IV Main: Chun-Li
1) What was your first Street Fighter game and when did you start playing it?
The first fighting game I ever tried out was Street Fighter IV. Of course, not taking into account the pixelated Street Fighter games my brother and I played when I was 5 years old on a Sega console. Didn’t know anything then =) I started sometime in April 2009 for fun when I chanced upon it. I was invited to join Round1.sg a few months later and have been motivated to improve my game since then, instead of treating it like something I do when I am bored.
2) Which of the new characters will you try out first?
Unlike my peers who played Third Strike etc., I do not know the power or weakness of these characters (Juri is an exception because she’s a new introduction). However, from the trailers and walkthroughs available on the net, I would definitely like to give Guy a go. He is very fast (I don’t think I could stand playing a drawling character after using Chun-Li and El Fuerte) and I utilize air grabs a lot. He is very much like El Fuerte whom I first started out with in SF4 except much cooler! =D
3) What kind of changes do you wish for your main in Street Fighter IV to have in Super SF IV? Why?
If possible, of course, a health increase for Chun-Li! But ah well, Chun-Li is a female character after all. To be able to have at least most of her ultra land after a juggle in the corner to make up for her lack of health would help balance it out a little, a matter which Kikosho has put to rest. It’ll deal full damage even after a juggle mid-screen! =) Like I mentioned, this is the first game I’ve had a hand at and I am happy enough with what Chun-Li has to offer. She is all-powerful in her own way what with that crazy dash and quick-yet-far-ranging-normals =) Of course it’s annoying when you fight so hard to get a Sagat or Zangief down on health only to be back at square one after a couple of hits but it probably shouldn’t matter too much what her flaws are because ultimately if you can win with what you’re given that’s great :p

Hello my friend! I want to say that this post is amazing, nice published and include roughly all vital infos. I??ï¿¥d like to peer additional posts similar to this .
What I wish to see….
I wish for EVEN lesser health for C. Viper! She looks horrible and should be made a lower tier character than the rest. Recommended heath to be at 500 instead of 900 (It still puzzles me last year why Rose was the bottom rated fighter). The sooner she dies the better.
Thunder Knuckle to have 55 dmg instead of 70. Overall all her moves are annoying to watch.
Akuma to have 20% more health, Gouken to have 23% more health; dmg to all moves increase by 18%.
thanks for putting up this article, much appreciated
It is really a nice and helpful piece of information. I am satisfied that you shared this helpful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.
