Tokyo Game Show 2011 – Day 1

At around 5PM today, just as everyone at TGS was getting ready to go off and enjoy some post-game show ramen, the earth moved… No, it wasn’t a ground breaking announcement to cap off the day, but a 6.2 magnitude earthquake some 140 miles off shore of Tokyo.
Strangely enough, despite it being my first earthquake, that wasn’t even the weirdest thing TGS had to offer…

Couple of days ago, we were invited to a hands-on event for the PlayStation Vita. Mr. Katsuhiko Murase, Deputy Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (SCEH) did the pleasantries, and after that, we were free to molest the sets.
Japan may be the PS3’s home market, but that doesn’t stop us from being envious of all the new goodies that pop up every now and then over there, and that includes the sleek new CECH-3000B revision of the PS3 console.
E3 has always been the battleground for heavyweights to duke it out and fire their first salvos for the coming year. 2011 has been no different and both Sony and Microsoft have trotted out the major artillery to make sure gamers keep spending their hard-earned cash on titles for their respective consoles. Following a successful event at Cineleisure last weekend, PlayStation have announced the opening of a permanent PlayStation Playground @ E2Max Cathay Cineleisure.
Microsoft beat its chest recently as they announced that they sold over one million units of its motion control wonder Kinect for the Xbox 360 within the first ten days of its availability.
GameAxis compiled a list of games that really made the PlayStation 1 a force to be reckoned with back in the day.
