SBO Singapore Qualifiers: WINNER IS…
….Team HAPPY. After a huge display of skill, reflexes, and high-level vanilla Street Fighter IV play last Saturday night, only one can emerge victorious. Team HAPPY, the three-man team consisting of Xian (Akuma), Tommy (Chun-Li), and Leslie (Sagat), came out on top, with Team BETS, consisting of Gangura (Sagat), Gackt(Ryu), and Dixon (Balrog), coming in second. Just a small reminder for you still keeping true to vanilla Street Fighter IV: the other part of the SBO Singapore Qualifying Rounds will be held on the 24th of July (courtesy of Round1.sg).
It’s a known fact that any cover done with an acoustic style has a 50% chance of outdoing the original track. Inch Chua, a local singer, manage to do so with her cover (alongside guitarwork by Mark John Hariman) of Exile’s “The Next Door”.
Just this morning, Round1.sg and Tornado held a short meet-and-greet session between them and the press (including yours truly) to tell us a bit about the Super Battle Opera 2010 Tournament for Street Fighter IV in Singapore. The Round1.sg members, consisting of Wilson “Tetra” Chia, Jon “Jonda” Lim, and Yong “vx” Hui, stated that this is the first time Singapore will be holding something this grand for the local arcade scene.
Entertainment hub Tornado and fighting game community Round1.sg are going to hold a Super Battle Opera (SBO) tournament for Street Fighter 4 (vanilla, not Super) in Singapore. This marks the first time Singapore-based qualifiers are held . The qualifying rounds will be held as follows, right after the jump.
The folks over at Round1.sg manage to gather a bunch of videos up for display from the Samsung Street Fighter 4 Challenge event that was held last Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. Good stuff, I tells ya!
You can now play Street Fighter IV on your iPhone. Released yesterday at GDC 2010, the app is selling for US$9.99 on iTunes. The game features eight fighters: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Abel, and M. Bison. Game modes include both head-to-head local multiplayer (via Bluetooth) and solo play.
