Still trying to get a full green bar when playing Tekken 6 online? Hopefully, things will get better from here on out, because tomorrow Namco Bandai will be releasing a free downloadable update on the 26th of November. Which is tomorrow. The update, according to the press release, will include:

• Selectable search priorities for ranked matches: players will be able to set search priorities for opponents in ranked matches based on comparable rank or connection quality as well as location;

• Improved input response: improvement of the game’s responsiveness to button / command inputs;

• Optimized data transmission between fighters and spectators: fight data will be optimized in order to reduce the bandwidth load on the host’s console;

• Signal strength bars: the signal strength bar will reflect connection quality more accurately;

• Chance to cancel match: players will be able to cancel the match before it begins once the opponent’s signal strength has been displayed on ranked matches.

Sounds good, so far. Still, nothing beats handing an ass-whooping in the arcades.

    Somehow, it’s harder to get matches this way. Japanese are really particular about connection bar status. They’ll reject matches even if you got 3 yellow bars. There are too few players in Sg to get regular green bar connections. I realized there’s much fewer Southeast Asian players in PS3’s Tekken 6 than PC’s Street Fighter IV. Perhaps, due to the cost, PS3s are not that common in Southeast Asia.

    It’s almost impossible to find green bar player matches in the lobby. You log in to a 3 player match, wait for one of them to win 3 rounds & get back to the lobby, get fired up to play against the winner, & they kick you out just ‘cos your connection ain’t perfect. The problem isn’t with Tekken 6. It’s with lack of players we can actually connect to. & we aren’t good enough for the Japanese… Our connection, that is.

    I prefer Street Fighter 4’s system. Just pick a player from the mini lobby, & you can continue matches as long as you like. & there’s many more Southeast Asian players you can play against.
