TGX ‘09: Blackshot To The Heart

Posted in Events

The folks at Garena thought that the hit Korean mass multiplayer FPS Blackshot Online isn’t getting much love in Singapore. Thus from today until this Sunday, they are holding a freeplay on the already-free FPS game that bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain Half-Life mod featuring modern-day terrorists and counter-terrorist teams going at it with guns and tactical play.

KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE....

Being the open-minded individual that I am, I decided to take part in a small media fight session that was held about 2pm. That particular experience pointed out two things:

- I’m not a fan of Counterstrike, so anyone who finds that game still interesting should definitely give this game a shot. Blackshot offers the same style of gameplay with a few additional online features like weapons-purchasing and smooth matchmaking with other players online.

- I really suck at team-based games. While I ended up getting the most kills on the team, my team still lost because no one was really communicating or relaying tactics. Still, it shows that in all online FPSs, co-operation and teamwork can make or break a game.

Regardless, it was still an okay game and a boon to those who wish for a tweak in the old Counterstrike formula. More pics for your viewing below.
