A few weeks ago, I posted on the forums asking you boys and girls about your favorite Call of Duty kick-a$$ moments, be it multiplayer or single-player, so that we can showcase it on the magazine this month. Due to constraints of space, however, we had to cut down to just three kick-a$$ moments. This is where the strengths of the GAX website is highlighted; there’s no such thing as space constraints. Behold, for here’s our official picks from the boards on the reader’s Kick A$$ Call of Duty moments:

“It happened in WAW, in the tight confirm spaces of the mp_dome map. I ran out of ammo on my gun, so I just run around knifing people. After a 7 knife kill streak, your life can never be the same again….” – Shinypants

“It would have to be the Gunship mission in CoD 4. I researched this on the internet and even some players from the US Army who actually flew and fired the real thing said that it was very realistic.” – VoodooKing

“In the first Call of Duty, Sgt. Moody, Pvt. Elder and I were tasked to go through a small Nazi-occupied town to send a message for reinforcements. Moody drove the car through the woods eventually running into a roadblock, he took a detour, all the while with Nazis firing at us on the paths with a jeep chasing us. The music and battle was tense but Elder offered hilarious wisecracks.

Eventually Moody drove into the hostile town, under fire, ran into a dead end, reversed and crashed into a tank. It was then Elder uttered the best subtlety sarcastic yet hilarious quote ever about Moody’s driving skill. Immediately we had to escape and work through the town shooting Nazis until we saw a jeep parked in a garage. SGT Moody told Elder to hotwire it, and we covered him.

Enemies were coming everywhere; all the while with me wishing Elder had got the jeep working desperately. He got it working, we jumped in and he drove and accelerated like a madman desperate for survival. Even after breaking through the lines and at safety, he was driving at top speeds until Moody told him to slow down, twice. A mission full of win, mixed with truly immersive, believable intense moments yet with superb comic relief inserted in the correct time and AI squadmates you actually care about.” – cw8

“Definitely in Call of Duty 4, the moment you realize the grass is actually Captain MacMillan in Ghillie disguise.” – like52

“Awesome Moment #1: Single Player Mission – Charlie Don’t Surf. Opening scene. Absolutely stunned and awed by the magnificent view of the Blackhawks flying through the Arabian city. Feels just like you’re in the warzone. Breathtaking!” – ShuToshio

“The most unforgettable COD moment(s) for me was the very first COD… it was the opening Russian campaign (I think) where you ran up to and was issued your rifle and started to fight… then shortly, a bombshell hit near you and suddenly, all you hear is a “dinging” sound and your movement becomes “shaky” and “blurry”. Gradually, the sound comes back to normal. I was so impressed by the realism of the shellshock effect that I always showcase that scene to my non-gamer friends.” – Mandrake

“Two words: “Black Cats”. People might remember [COD:Modern Warfare] “Shock and Awe” more, but the recent CoD:WaW has that really intense bit where you fly a Catalina Flying Boat as it gets destroyed by the Japanese flyers and kamikazes in the nightsky. It’s an intense flying mission i’ll never forget.” - therealbuster

“My kick ass call of duty moment was completing all COD:WAW veteran mode missions and relentlessly being spammed by AI grenades during the missions.” – ClueJ

“Some funny cod4 multiplayer that i had which made me laugh so hard.

- was planting claymore near a car when enemy came and tried to backstab me, he triggered the claymore, car exploded and both of us dead.

- killed enemy, he had last stand perk so he was still lying down looking for me to shoot, i threw a hand grenade at him, he died from the impact (the grenade did not even explode)” – seekie
